Architect and Interior Design Instructor, Figureground Studio Inc + TMU School of Interior Design

Jyhling Lee is a mother, architect, artist, educator, and multi-unit property owner. As an immigrant she learned from her parent’s early earnest investments in real estate as newcomers and has sought to continue on this journey in her own life. She is guided by the creation of an enriched quality of life for her family and community. Jyhling is passionate about the socially enabling role of design within the built environment. Common in her work is the desire to enhance the human experience of a place and to inspire the civic imagination. Through her projects in architecture, interior design, public art, and public space-making, her interdisciplinary practice, Figureground Studio, focuses on a context specific and integrated design approach to creating experientially enriching inclusive environments. She is a design instructor at the Toronto Metropolitan University School of Interior Design and a board member of her local Junction BIA. In 2022, Jyhling was nominated for 30 th Annual RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards.
