
Luisa Duarte Milani
Project Assistant
Luísa is a Project Assistant at the Infrastructure Institute and a Ph.D. candidate in Planning at the University of Toronto. Luísa has a Master’s degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s of Architecture and Urbanism from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. At the Infrastructure Institute, Luísa supports the SPRE Groundwork Accelerator program. Her research focuses on understanding how governance systems influence housing and environmental inequalities. She has worked on multiple research projects about flood risk and social vulnerability in urban settings, specifically in Toronto, Canada, and Austin and Houston, in the USA. She has also worked on research that studies the relationship between youth health and the built environment in Toronto. Overall, her work is focused on promoting social and environmental justice within our cities. Before shifting to planning, Luísa worked as an architect for a few years, and still has a passion for architecture and design.
