Nigel Carvalho is an urban planner, researcher, and facilitator that brings experience in affordable housing research and private sector land use consulting to the Infrastructure Institute’s Social Purpose Real Estate Accelerator and Creative Mixed-Use Initiative.

Holding a Master of Environmental Studies, concentrated in Community Planning and Housing, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Gender Studies, Nigel has a strong understanding of municipal and provincial planning frameworks as well as broader systems of power affecting a wide range of social issues. Personal experience living and volunteering in Victoria, Vancouver, Montréal, and Toronto informs their capacity for meaningful intercity analysis and interpreting context-specific needs.
