
Sarah Chan
Planning and Design Lead
Sarah Chan is the Planning and Design Lead at the School of Cities, University of Toronto. She is both an urban planner and urban designer, holding a Master of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from Carleton University. Sarah leads the advisory work at Infrastructure Institute, many of which involve creative mixed-use initiatives with public sector clients, including CreateTO, Infrastructure Ontario, and the Toronto Lands Corporation. She also leads research projects leading to tangible solutions to current Canadian urban issues with many of the Institute’s partners, including CMHC, Esri Canada, and United Way Greater Toronto. These primarily focus on social infrastructure, equitable development, and building viable and resilient communities. Sarah also provides support to participants in the Institute’s training programs and loves to be involved in any exhibition work that the Institute undertakes .
Prior to her time at the School of Cities, Sarah has carried out master planning exercises, developed secondary plans, and conducted site-specific or neighbourhood studies mainly in the GTHA. She is committed to seek the welfare of cities to enable the fluorishing of all its residents.
