Mission
United for Literacy believes literacy is a right. They work with volunteers and community partners to give people the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential. Their vision is a Canada where everyone has access to the literacy tools needed to thrive.
Project
Repurpose United for Literacy’s underutilized Toronto headquarters into a multi-use space that generates sustainable, mission-aligned revenue. The project includes modest renovations, safety and security upgrades, and accessibility improvements to enable flexible office rentals and a boutique event venue, while preserving the building’s heritage character. This initiative supports long-term financial sustainability and reinvestment in national literacy programs serving underserved communities.
In the Accelerator, they will
Conduct market analysis to confirm demand for office and event space; develop a phased renovation and leasing plan; secure contractor estimates and costings for priority upgrades; and refine a revenue model to support long-term program sustainability.
